In my blue works I am createing landscapes of the soul, haunting voids filled with muted longings. The spaces possess a resonance presence and evoke a mood through emotive intimate sensations.
My work is profoundly influenced by dancing. A dance has a beginning, middle and an end as life has past, present and future. These three elements are veiled within my work and reminiscence from earlier times interlace with the current moment, in addition to hopes and dreams for the future. I use music and dance to arouse intense memories and bodily sensations. Painting becomes a physical act, like a performance and the moment of mark making is an echo of my dance, a moment rehearsed in the landscape of my soul. The sensuality of dancing becomes visible within the painting as the forms magically move around the canvas perceiving an airy feeling.
Furthermore, I use my photos of Iceland, my home country, to boost enchanting remembrance. The work hums with the ambience of the vast, awe-inspiring wilderness of Iceland, enhancing the mystifying atmosphere.
Please keep in mind that the impression intended by confronting the paintings does not come through in the photographs.
